Papier-mache
I started to do my papier-mache which is actually a mask, on 22nd July.
Making the mask is quite tough, specially the way to strengthen the
structure. First, I tear up some tissue and immerse it into the water.
The tissue was left there for about half a day. During the shaping
process, I ask Mohd. Ami to help me. We used several things like
pen-brush, plain water, glue mixed with water, tissue paper and
immersion small pieces tissue. Ami do the pasting while I give him some
instruction to do the mask of my taste.
First and second layer, we put some strong and hard tissue paper, which
was facial tissue paper. He used water to stick those tissues together.
After done, I ask Ami to paste immersion small pieces tissue as the
third layer. Those immersion small pieces tissue is mixed with glue.
This was hard because he need to flatten the pieces of tissue and apply
the same thickness to all part of the mask.
After third layer
finished, I instruct Ami to paste the soft tissue which was toilet
paper as fourth layer. In this layer, he used glue water for pasting.
Still using the glue water, he used facial tissue paper as the 5th
layer which was the last layer of my mask. It almost take a day for the
mask to get dry. Therefor, I painted the mask on 23rd July's night.
